Guided stability hour

The browser test tells you a lot in three minutes. Hours of error-free work under a heavy load are what stress testers are for, and the good ones are free for home use. Run the ones that fit your question, then paste what each printed; the page reads it. Nothing here is installed by ScoutSpecs and nothing you paste leaves this page.

Before an hour-long run: plug a laptop in, close other programs, and expect the fans to run loud. Stop a run if the PC shuts down or the screen goes black: that is a result too, and it means the cooler or the power supply cannot keep up.

  1. FurMark 2

    10 minutes. Free for home use.

    Graphics card under a heavy, hot load, with an artifact scanner and a score.

    Install it, choose the 1080p preset and run the stress test for 10 minutes with the artifact scanner on; or run the benchmark once for a score.

    Paste back: The score line (Score: N points) or the artifact scanner line.

  2. memtest_vulkan

    5 minutes. Open source (zlib).

    Video memory: every byte written and re-read for five minutes, errors counted.

    Download memtest_vulkan.exe, run it (no install, no admin), pick the card when asked, let the standard five-minute test finish.

    Paste back: The last lines, with the number of errors detected.

  3. y-cruncher

    60 minutes. Free for personal use.

    Processor and memory with known-answer checks: a wrong digit is a fault.

    Download, unzip, run y-cruncher, choose Component Stress Tester, keep the default tests and set 60 minutes.

    Paste back: The closing lines: either a Redundancy Check Failed line, or the line saying all tests passed.

  4. Prime95

    60 minutes. Free.

    Processor and memory against results known in advance; the classic stability test.

    Run prime95.exe, choose Just Stress Testing, then Options, Torture Test, Blend, and leave it for an hour.

    Paste back: A line from the worker windows or results.txt: the errors and warnings count, or a FATAL ERROR line.

  5. Cinebench 2026

    10 minutes. Free for personal use.

    A processor render score other people can compare with.

    Install, keep the default 10-minute minimum and start the CPU Multi Core test.

    Paste back: The CPU (Multi Core) line with the points.

  6. MemTest86 Free

    1 to 2 hours. Free edition, no restrictions.

    System memory tested from a boot USB, outside Windows.

    Make the boot USB with the free imager, boot from it, let four passes finish.

    Paste back: The result line (PASS or FAIL) and the error count from the report.
